Spans are for plastic roof sheets or plastic roof tiles, purlins spaced at 660 mm, deflection limited to L/200. The middle web keeps the tall walls from buckling.

Where is SF-160 used?
SF-160 suits factories with frames 4 – 5 m apart. With 5 m frames it works only at 0.65 kPa; at 0.95 – 1.55 kPa use SF-220, and at 1.85 kPa add an intermediate rafter. Use one size larger along eaves, corners and gables.
Can SF-160 be used in chemical plants?
Yes. Acid and alkali fumes in plating shops, fertiliser stores and wastewater plants corrode steel purlins far faster than in normal buildings, and anti-rust paint peels after a while. FRP does not rust. Where chemicals are strong, Santiago FRP can supply a vinyl ester grade with better chemical resistance; tell us which chemicals are used. More: roofs for chemical plants.
How is SF-160 delivered?
A 6 m length weighs about 21.6 kg and can be lifted onto the roof without a crane. It is cut to length, drilled at the frame positions, end-sealed and supplied with 304 stainless fittings for steel frames.
Frequently asked questions
What are the dimensions of SF-160?
SF-160 is a double-cell FRP box section 160 × 55 mm with a 4 mm wall, weighing 3.60 kg per metre.
What rafter spacing can SF-160 span?
With purlins at 660 mm under plastic roof sheets, SF-160 spans up to 5.2 m at 0.65 kPa, 4.6 m at 0.95 kPa, 4.1 m at 1.25 kPa, 3.8 m at 1.55 kPa and 3.6 m at 1.85 kPa basic wind pressure.
Which SF-160 grade suits strong chemicals?
The vinyl ester grade. Tell Santiago FRP the chemical names, concentrations and temperature under the roof so the right resin is chosen.
